Bipolar 2 From Inside and Out

About Me

Hi. I’m a freelance writer/editor with bipolar disorder, type 2. I am also the author of Bipolar Me, a book which is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iTunes, a through other outlets. My second book, Bipolar Us, will be published later this year by Eliezer Tristan Publishing.

I write about mental health issues (obviously), including talk therapy, medication, books, bullying, social aspects, and public policy, but mostly my own experiences with bipolar 2. As I always say, I’m not an expert and YMMV – Your Mileage May Vary.

I welcome comments and discussions, so please feel free to speak up and add your thoughts!

  3. Hi bipolar me, I too have been diagnosed with bipolar type two, after many years of being treated for depression and anxiety. May I commend you on your blog, it is not easy sharing these types of things with all of the stigmas attached these days.

Karen, I found you on The Mighty and you are truly inspiring. I’m a writer too and I’ve been struggling with Bipolar Mixed Affective Disorder for several years now. How do you find the motivation to write so often and so frequently? And how do you keep the momentum going? I am very interested in how you maintain professional success while living with bipolar and how you manage to produce such great works. I would appreciate any guidance or feedback. Thank you for contributing knowledge to world!

    • Thank you for the kind words (if they’re meant for me, not Karen). I believe I owe my success to being properly medicated and having therapy as needed. I maintain my schedule by giving myself a deadline – I post in my blogs every week on Sunday. I try to do most of the writing on Thursday, so I have time to revise and polish before I post. I’ve been a writer and editor now for over 30 years and it’s just what I do.
